 Agricultural and Wildlife Tax Valuations
Medium and large landowners in Texas frequently have the open space, or agricultural tax valuation.  For over a decade, since Texans amended the State Constitution, we've been able to switch to the Wildlife Management tax valuation.  We are taxed at the same rate, but the emphasis is on wildlife management, and less so on livestock.  You can still have livestock on your property, or remove it all together and manage exclusively for wildlife.  Land under wildlife management typically sees an abundance of wildlife, has greater biodiversity, and brings increased resale value.  For developers, switching newly acquired land to wildlife delays rollback taxes, reduces liability, and is a less expensive alternative to maintaining livestock or leases.
