 Healthy Land, Better Property
Your land is special, and you've got a lot invested in it.  Preservation Texas provides a complete line of products and services to help you manage your land and practice good land stewardship. We've developed a three step process to assist you.
Assessment and Evaluation:  How come I don't have any topsoil?  What's erosion?  So this dense thicket of cedar isn't healthy?  The first step is to utilize our Land Assessment Tool to help you understand what is happening to your land - it has changed a lot over the last 200 years.  We'll identify any threats and work with you to come up with a plan.
Fix What's Broken:  Every time it rains more of my topsoil washes down to my neighbor's property!  This cedar is everywhere - I'm going to chop it all down!  My neighbor's got oak wilt, I've got to do something!  Relax!  Many landowners don't even realize that they might have a problem.  You're a step ahead - you already understand that there are solutions.
Build, Enhance, and Enjoy:  I'd like to see more birds!  My wife would really enjoy a butterfly garden!  If I had more native plants, I wouldn't have to water as much!  There's no reason why you can't create an oasis on your land.  And the best part is that you'll get to enjoy it yourself, and show it off to your neighbors!  Whether you want to go ahead with a full restoration, or just maximize your wildlife viewing opportunities, the professionals of Preservation Texas are here for you.  Click a subject below to learn about particular land management tools:

 Land Restoration

Land in Texas has changed over the last 200 years. There are no more wild fires to keep the cedars in the canyons.  Cows have overgrazed the native grasses, and invasive grasses such as KR Bluestem and Bermuda have been introduced.  Nature’s big game predators have mostly disappeared, allowing deer populations to explode.  Deer eat native plants and trees, so there are fewer oak saplings growing.

It may not be possible to ever completely restore your land, but there are many things you can do to make your land healthier and more beneficial for wildlife, not to mention increasing its value for you.

Preservation Texas can work with you to develop a plan to meet your goals.  And of course we are here to help you out.  We can tackle brush management and cedar clearing.  A prescribed burn is one of the best things you can do.  Follow that up with planting native grasses, and you’ll be making smart decisions for your land.
